A new vulva portrait that I made of a lovely person, together with the words she wanted to share with you: "A few years back I had a boyfriend who kept a bit of a grudge after I broke up with him. One day he sent me an insulting picture, comparing different vulvas to ham sandwiches. The one that was supposed to match mine was the „uglier“ one according to him. Before that incident I hadn’t even considered something might be wrong with my vulva, but this stupid picture got stuck in my mind for many years and I became more and more ashamed of how I looked down there. Now that I’m a little older I realize that debasing another person like that was his flaw, not mine." • Thank you for being part of the gallery 💖Would you like to be part of the gallery (and/or share your story)? « Un jour, un ex m’a envoyé une photo qui comparait des vulves à des sandwiches. Celui qui était censé me représenter était le plus moche, selon mon ex.

Avant cet incident, je n’avais jamais réalisé que ma vulve aurait pu être déconsidéré à ce point (…) »

✨Celebrate diversity! ✨Variations in vulvae are endless. Labia can be long or tiny, wrinkly or smooth, thick or thin, curvy or wavy, juicy or dry, big or small, chubby or skinny, flappy or wobbly, asymmetrical or equally long. Mostly it's a combination of these, and there are many more possibilities. Labia colour can vary from dark brown to pink to red to purple to light pink to light brown to caramel or a combination of these and many more colours. When inner labia are longer than outer labia and stick out they often tend to have a darker colour than the internal part of the vulva. The mons pubis can be round, chubby, skinny, firm or wobbly – depending on estrogen levels and body weight. Some bodies are naturally hairy, others have little hair growth. There's such a broad variety in possibilities, making sure that no one looks the same. • Why would we try to go against this diversity and aim for "one perfect body type"? I think it's more beneficial if we look at ourselves and each other with an understanding of our diversity, appreciating the fact that we are all different, and beautiful in our own way. That our bodies are good the way they are. To be kinder to ourselves, to have less judgement about the way we look. To appreciate what our body does for us, taking good care of it and accepting it just the way it is. It's OK if we're not jumping around happily loving ourselves every day – but a general acceptance or appreciation of our bodies would already make a huge difference 💛✨ #thevulvagallery #vulva #vulvas #respecteachother #diversity #bodylove #genderinclusivity #humananatomy #empowerment #bodypositive #bodyneutrality #selflove #watercolorillustration #loveyourself #labia #bodyhair #pubichair #hildeatalanta

This is a vulva portrait that I made of a lovely person who wanted to be part of the gallery, accompanied by her words: "I have severe vaginismus and thus am unable to have penetrative sex, or even insert a tampon for that matter. This became such a source of shame and feelings of unworthiness for me. However, I have found comfort and support through the Vulva Gallery in how you spread awareness about vulva diversity and champion acceptance and nonjudgment. Thank you so much for the work that you are doing!" • Thank you for being part of the gallery 💖Would you like to be part of the gallery (and/or share your story)? « Je souffre d’un vaginisme sévère et je suis donc incapable de me faire pénétrer. C’est devenu une source de honte pour moi.

Cependant, j’ai trouvé du confort et du soutien à travers la Vulva Gallery (…) »

✨I would like to raise awareness to a skin condition called vitiligo ✨ A little while ago I was approached by a young woman, who asked me to represent her vulva in my gallery. She told me about her skin condition called vitiligo, which made the skin and hair on half of her vulva turn white. • Vitiligo is a long term skin condition characterized by patches of the skin losing pigment. Those patches become white and usually have sharp margins, and the hair from the skin may also become white. The cause is typically unknown, but it is believed to be due to genetic susceptibility that is triggered by an environmental factor such that an autoimmune disease occurs. • I would like to finish by saying: thank you for your openness and boldness in approaching me and sharing your story. Your vulva is unique, awesome and beautiful! 🙌🏻💛✨#thevulvagallery #vulva #vulvas #vitiligo #vaginaart #femaleempowerment #girlempowerment #freethevulva #feminism #everydayfeminism #intersectionalfeminism #feminist #feminista #feministpride #feministart #feministartist #bodypositivity #bodypositive #bodypositivemovement #selflove #watercolor #watercolorpainting #watercolorillustration #loveyourself #labia #freethepussy #pubichair #pubichairdontcare #thehappyfeminist #hildeatalanta

✨The Vulva Gallery welcomes people from all kinds of genders ✨ Some vulva-owning individuals don't identify as female, and some start taking testosterone. This causes bodily changes, also in the genital area. This illustration depicts a vulva changed after testosterone intake. • When a vulva-owning individual takes testosterone, their clitoris starts to grow. This can vary from 1 to 2.5 or even 3 inches (2-8 centimeters). The difference between a naturally large clitoris and one after taking hormones, is that the hormones cause the clitoris to be harder (more erect), and they tend to stick out of the clitoral hood a bit. They can look much like a miniature penis, with a head. Also, hormones causes pubic hair to grow thicker and longer. • Not everyone who decides to change from a female to a male body undergoes genital surgery. Many trans* individuals choose to keep their vulva; for different kind of reasons – all of them are valid. What ever a person decides to do, all decisions are OK – as long as the person is happy with it. And I'd like to end this post by saying: all trans* vulvas are awesome 🙌🏼💛 #thevulvagallery #vulvaart #ftm #transgender #transinclusivefeminism #nonbinary #genderinclusivity #positivity #humananatomy #biology #bodypositivity #bodypositive #bodypositivemovement #selflove #watercolor #watercolorillustration #labia #pubichair #pubichairdontcare #loveyourself #respecteachother #youarebeautiful #hildeatalanta
