Has anyone of you ever passed a Cambridge exam? The advanced or even better, the Proficiency?

I've passed the P.E.T in Seconde, but I don't know if the level of this exam is higher than the Proficiency one. And my college propose to us to attend the First exam. I don't know yet if i will attend it or not !

@Somewhere I think you write quite well actually, doesn't sound weird or anything And watching movies in english are definitely a good way to learn. I remember watching Spy Kids a hundred times when i was younger, at first I couldn't understand a thing, haha

Maybe you could watch them with English subtitles because I know sometimes it can be hard to understand what they say ( and some accents in particular, yeah Irish, i'm talking abt you lol ), but when you actually see the words you understand better.

I totally agree abt Omegle, most of them are just weirdos really, but they're the funnier, innit ?^^

I never tried to pass any exam, and I have lot of regrets about it. Maybe there are some (free) level exams on the net ?

The PET is the second exam out of five, the Proficiency being the highest one, confirming that you handle the language just like a native speaker.

The first one is the KET, then the PET, the First, the last one the Proficiency as you say. Does anyone know the name of the 4th Cambridge exam ?

It's my english teacher who proposed us to pass the exam ! But i think you can pass it as a "free candidate" !

[ Petite parenthèse en français : Il me semble qu'il y a différents termes pour passer-s'inscrire/réussir/échouer un examen. Et je pense que to pass c'est pour réussir l'examen ! J'aimerai que quelqu'un puisse me confirmer ou infirmer ça, pour enlever mes doutes et nous remettre dans le vrai ! ]

To take an exam : passer un examen
To pass an exam : réussir un examen
To fail an examen : échouer à un examen (noter qu'il n'y a pas de préposition dans le verbe anglais)

How would you translate "an attempt by Mr Strauss Khan to force himself on her" ? I was copying the final version of my work, and my "une tentative de M.Strauss Khan de s'imposer à elle" sounds sooooo wrong !

As I work, I would have prefer to have a less hot summer. That's horrible to work in such hard conditions... But I have to admit that the weather was really bad until those days. I like warmth, but only when I'm on vacations, when I have nothing to do except going to the swimming pool or to the beach haha.

[réponse en français car pour les explications c'est mieux] Dans la mesure où on parle de viol (du moins tentative), il faut pas faire dans la demie-mesure et aller droit au but.
Du coup je dirai "Une tentative de M. Strauss-Khan pour avoir forcé (reprendre le nom de la victime si cité) de coucher avec lui."
Ou alors, "prendre le dessus sur elle". Ça me semble plus approprié.

Alors oui, j'extrapole mais là, je vois pas comment faire autrement. (Il m'aurait fallu la phrase entière avec son contexte pour t'aider davantage). Mais parfois, il faut faire abstraction du sens premier du mot et user (et abuser) de paraphrases et autres figures de style.
