I used to feel the same way about mine... before a bunch of people (among whom a few really really cute guys) told me how adorable it was. Not ashamed of my accent anymore !

I'm quite comfortable with my accent when I speak with anglophones actually. The thing is, I spend my days with French people who have flawless accents and are obviously not impressed by the whole cute Frenchie thing haha!

Ahahah, this is why I always feel uncomfortable speaking English in front of French people (especially if I know they have an amazing accent).

I was ashamed of my accent for a long time because all my Polish friends were teasing me about my accent.
But then I spoke with a British friend (well, actually he is Irish, but lives in Oxford) and he told me that I had a nice accent. Just a little bit "nordic", like people from Norway or Sweden.

And I have been very proud because people from these countries speak very good English
But it lasted only a few days. Now I am ashamed again when I hear me speaking English

So , four years ago i went in New-York, i think it is the most incredible city i've seen , though one week was a little bit too short , we always had to run everywhere!

Then i went in Martinique ! My grand parents always said that for their fiftieth marriage anniversary (? i'm not sure of my sentence ^^') they would take me, my mother and my little brother in Martinique. It was 15 wonderful days. The landscapes are so overwhelming ...

My dream is to go to Peru (i don't know why but i 'm obsessed with this country since my childhood!) and to make a road trip on the whole west coast of the USA!

Ahah~ this topic frightens me...I'm supposed to spend one year abroad, and...my english is so bad.
I'm not fluent at all, my accent is terrible, even if I understand the most part when someone speaks english...I'm unable to answer, because I have to think...think and think again to make a sentence, grammaticaly correct.

(but I love baking carrot cake/cookies, so in the worst case, next year, instead of speaking, let's eating...no ?)

I should come here sometimes to keep up my English.
I don't want to forget my English, as I dis with my Spanish : almost two years without speaking or hearing Spanish, and I'm now in big trouble to make a sentence.

And I've been in Asia for nearly 2 months, and speaking here with the locals is a bad thing for my Eglish : I have to make very simple and even sometimes wrong sentences to be understood. Bad habits !

I'm pretty sure after two months you'll start thinking and dreaming in English.
And when you come back home after this year abroad, you'll be fluent.

Alinoë is still in Asia! ("I've been in Asia for nearly 2 months" means that she arrived 2 months ago. Basically, you use the present perfect (have+past participle) for an action that started in the past and is still continuing, and the past tense (verbs ending in ED or irregular ones) for an isolated action in the past (sorry for the grammar lesson )

Of course we all have to meet up! I'll be in Paris some time in June. Planning to leave some time in August. What about you? When is the school year supposed to start in Newcastle?
