Ahah, it happens to me all the time. I have quite a reputation now... I probably should have kept my mouth shut! But some people find it funny and follow the lead, sometimes in spanish or german. Makes great conversations, I love it.

It reminds me that I use to speak English when I drink too much... that makes my friends laugh, even if they don't understand a word I say in that case

Hi girls ! I love to speak in english. But i'm a little hung-up with my accent when i read (when i speak it's ok). Does anyone have any advice to improve my accent ?

Just look at American or English Tv-shows .
I have an american friend how told me taht it was also very usefull to look at people's lips when they talk . You can try !

Haha don't panic Colore. We are not native speakers... We make mistakes of course. But we won't improve our linguistic skills if we don't speak, or write in English....

Absolutely I never said I had a perfect English, but I use to speak English with my friends sometimes and, even if we hesitate, I really feel like we are improving!

I'm like you, Colore, but I really need improve my english - I had good marks at high school but french level in english is'nt a reference... And my accent is hilarious, I'll try to watch movies in english.

Try to watch films and series in English, without subtitles. It's good for the ear. Besides, you could speak English with friends who are good at it It may seem weird, but it's pretty funny and really useful!

I loved Christmas time in the UK! When I was there, had a meal with the teachers with Christmas crackers, mulled wine, apple pie... Yummy!
Oh and today I got a virtual Christmas card from my former landlady! I was precisely thinking about writing to her! ^^

And I would have loved to spend Christmas Eve abroad as well.
The little girl that I looked after this summer in Ireland sent me a Christmas card, so nice, it just made me want to run to book a flight ticket and to go over there.

I'm glad to speak ( write in ) english again. It's been a long time actually !

I just finished speaking with my aussie friend Maggie and we made plans about coming in autralia in february 2011 after my exams and stay with her after her staying in Paris.. It would be so cool!
My english accent is really bad but, yeah, I understand all she's saying so I'm glad ! And she said that french girls speaking english are sexy hahaha !

You're really lucky! I have been to australia 2 years ago as an exchange student, it was great! Sadly, my aussi friend is broke so she cant come over here, I'm quite sad about that... I loved every single thing about australia, If you can make it, just go for it, you won't regret it..at all!

The other day I was at an English pub, I went out for a smoke and a guy came and talked to me about the game, when I answered he said "oh... you're French!". Damn. I lost my accent. I'm so bummed.

And I think it's a so great idea!! IIn fact, KittyKiller, when I was in Beijin, I was in front of a restaurant and a guy talked to me about the weather and he said exactly the same thing...
"Ha vous êtes française!!" He was french too. ^^
I thought I hadn't a big french accent!! Before this man... =/

But I don't think our accent is so bad. Obviously, if you don't make any effort it will be a disaster but if it's just a cute accent it isn't so bad.

Same here! I went to beijing as well =) and i was talking to a british man, and then he told me
"are you a french speaking person?" and i was quite upset because I always thought you couldnt tell about my accent, in fact, even some english speaking friends have told me so before!
